How to use Mobile App

IDmelon Mobile App works in combination with either IDmelon Client App or an IDmelon Reader and enables users to use their smartphones as a security key. See the instructions below:

First, download and install IDmelon app from App Store or Google Play.

Then, go with one of the options below:

Plug an IDmelon Reader to a USB port of the PC and start experiencing Tap & Go!

2

Scan a QR code from IDmelon Client app on the PC screen once on the first try to pair your smartphone with the PC and start experiencing Push Authentication!

After users complete the setup, they will be able to access Microsoft, Office 365, GitHub, and many more FIDO2 supported platforms and simply and securely log into Windows, websites, and applications without having to type a password.

There are two ways to get started with IDmelon Mobile App:

Personal users have the option to upgrade their accounts:

Personal users

To activate your security key, go ahead and tap on Personal in this page and in the next page enter your email address.

In this page enter your email addess, username, password and click on Send verification email, after that you will be moved to the next page.

In this page you can open your email app by tapping onOpen email app and then click on the activation link in your email,or if you do not have acces to your email on your device you can click on Verify with code in order to verify your email by entering a 6 digit code.

If you clicked on Open email app you will see an email from IDmelon which cintains the same content as you see in this image.

Note: You can confirm your email by clicking on the link which is sent to your email.

If you clicked on Verify with code you will be moved to a page which requires you to enter a six-digit number to verify your email address. After entering the code, click on Done.

In this page, as you can see, you have to type a name for your security key. Moreover, you can choose your licence type and also you can choose a skin for your security key. After finishing your configuration, click on Next.

If you click on Licence Type you will see a page which contains the following licences types, choose the type that you prefer.

If you clicked on skin, you will be moved to a page, which contains some skins for your security key.

Congratulations, you have successfully created your securiyt key, click Done.

Here you can see your security key and manage it.

Business users

To activate your security key, go ahead and tap on Business / School.

In this page, enter your email and click Send verification email.

Note:Make sure that you receive an invitation email from one of your organization’s admins so as to be added to your organization’s panel and use the email in IDmelon Mobile App to activate your securiyt key.

In this page, you can access your email by tapping Open email app to see the verification code.

Note: The email that you receive must contain the same contents as the image below.

Tap Verify with code to move to the next page and enter the 6-digit code. If you did not receive any code, tap on Resend.

Enter the 6-digit code that you have received and then, tap on Done.

In this page, tap on Approve in order to activate your security key on your smartphone.

After approving, you will be moved to a page the same as the page below.

Note: IDmelon has set a time limit. If it takes too long to complete the activation process, the activation link in your email will expire, and you will have to start over again.

Upgrade to Business Account


To upgrade a Basic account to an Standard account or a Premium account, follow the instructions bellow:

Tap the Security key image on the first page.

Tap the Settings icon on top of the page.

Expand License Type to see the available plans.

Choose one of the available plans, and tap on Upgrade, then you will be redirected to your platform's payment page to choose your payment method for IDmelon Application.

Pair with a new PC


To use IDmelon Mobile App in combination with IDmelon Pairing Tool without the need for any hardware, download IDmelon Pairing Tool here and follow below steps:

Open IDmelon app on your smartphone, go to the setting and click on the Pair with a New PC.

Open IDmelon Pairing Tool on your computer and click on the pair a new smartphone.

Point your phone camera at the QR code on your computer screen.

Enter a name for your smartphone in the popup window on your computer screen and press OK to connect your smartphone to the IDmelon Pairing Tool.

For each login or registration, you will receive an alert that you can approve and then verify your identity with using your desired unlocking method on your smartphone.

Add a Key to IDmelon Authenticator


You can add the following platforms to your securiy key.

Windows Login

This feature is only available for Auzure Active Directory joined PCs. Standalone PCs or even on-premise AD do not support this feature.

To enable this feature on your Azure AD joined PCs, call your IT administrator.

Office 365

Sign in your Microsoft account at https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ and go to My Profile page.

Choose Security Info and then Add sign-in method to see a list of different methods. Next, choose Security key from the list.

Choose USB device.

In the Setting up your new sign-in method page, select Next.

If you are using an IDmelon Reader, insert it into the USB port of your device, tap your smartphone to the Reader which starts blinking blue for a few seconds to receive the notification.

If you are using IDmelon Pairing Tool, you will receive the notification on the smartphone which is already paired with your computer.

You will return to the Security info page, type a name you’ll recognize later for your new security key, and then select Next.

Select Done to close the Security key page. The Security info page is updated with your security key information.

GitHub

Before adding a security key to your GitHub account, you must first enable 2FA via a TOTP mobile app or via SMS. Check here.

Sign in to your GitHub account.

In the top-right corner of any page, click your profile photo, then choose Settings.

In the Access section of the sidebar, click Password and authentication.

Next to Security keys, click Add.

Under Security keys, click Register new security key.

Type a nickname for the security key, then click Add.

If you are using IDmelon Pairing Tool, you will receive the notification on the smartphone which is already paired with your computer.

The Security keys section is updated with your security key information.

Twitter

Log in to your Twitter account. In the side menu on the left, click More, then click Settings and privacy.

Click on Security and account access, and then click Security.

In the Two-factor authentication section, choose Security key from the list of methods.

You will be asked to enter your password to continue.

After you click Continue:

Click Add key at Add the security key to your Twitter account page.

Enter a name for your security key at the Name your security key and click Next.

Click Done.

Facebook

To add a security key on your desktop, you’ll need to be using the latest version of Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Edge, or Safari.

To add a security key:

Go to your Security and login settings.

Scroll down to Use two-factor authentication and click Edit. You may be asked to re-enter your Facebook password at this point.

Click Use security key.

Click Register security key then follow the on-screen instructions.(If you do not see the Register Security Key option, you may need to update your browser.)

If you are using IDmelon Pairing Tool, you will receive the notification on the smartphone which is already paired with your computer.

Once you’ve successfully added a security key to your account, you can start using it when you log in.

AWS

You can enable a FIDO security key for your own IAM user from the AWS Management Console only, not from the AWS CLI or AWS API.

Use your AWS account ID or account alias, your IAM user name, and your password to sign in to the IAM console. To get your AWS account ID, contact your administrator.

In the navigation bar on the upper right, choose your user name, and then choose Security Credentials.

On the AWS IAM credentials tab, in the Multi-factor authentication (MFA) section, choose Activate MFA.

In the Manage MFA device wizard, choose Security key, and then choose Continue.

Say yes to the notification and choose Close when setup is complete.

The IDmelon FIDO2 security key is ready for use with AWS.

Bitbucket

Bitbucket supports security keys that use the FIDO U2F standard. These keys only work with a recent version of Google Chrome, which means that you need to install or update your browser if you want to begin using a security key.

Before adding a security key to your Bitbucket account, you must first enable Two-step verification.

To add a security key:

From your avatar in the bottom left, click Personal settings.

Click Two-step verification under Security.

Under Security keys, enter a name for your device in the text box.

Click Add security key:

If you are using IDmelon Pairing Tool, you will receive the notification on the smartphone which is already paired with your computer.

Cloudflare

To enable 2FA security key authentication after enabling 2FA on your Cloudflare account by clicking the Manage button:

In Security Key Authentication, click Add.

Enter your Cloudflare password on the Add a Security Key screen, then click Next.

A dialog appears. Interact with your security key to add it to your Cloudflare account.

If you are using an IDmelon Reader, insert it into the USB port of your device, tap your smartphone to the Reader which starts blinking blue for a few seconds to receive the notification.

If you are using IDmelon Pairing Tool, you will receive the notification on the smartphone which is already paired with your computer.

Enter a name for the security key. If this is the initial setup, you will be prompted to generate backup codes. If not, skip to Step 8.

Enter your password.

Click Next again to review your backup codes. Backup codes can be used to access your user account without your mobile device.

Click Download, Print, or Copy to save your backup codes in a secure location.

Click Next to finish the configuration.

Coinbase

To set up your security key:

Sign into your Coinbase account from a web browser. (You cannot change your 2-step method from the Coinbase mobile app.)

Go to Settings > Security

Select Security Key under 2-step verification.

Sign in to dropbox.com.

Click your avatar.

Choose Settings.

Select the Security tab.

Under Two-step verification, click Add next to Security keys. If you do not see this section, follow the Enable two-step verification instructions before proceeding.

Then click Begin setup.

Click Key inserted.

Note: Dropbox only supports using a security key when signing in to dropbox.com using the Chrome or Firefox web browsers. You can’t use a security key to sign in to the desktop or mobile apps at this time.

ebay

Sign in to your ebay account.

Go to Account Setting.

Choose Sign in and Security under the Personal Info.

Scroll down to see Security key sign in.

Click Turn on.

Enter your Password.

Click Continue on the new page that will be shown as Setup your security key.

Salesforce

If your Salesforce admin has allowed the use of Universal Second Factor (U2F) security keys, register your own security key to connect it to your account.

From your personal settings, enter Advanced User Details in the Quick Find box, then select Advanced User Details. No results? Enter Personal Information in the Quick Find box, then select Personal Information.

Click Register next to the Security Key (U2F) field.

If you don’t see this option, your Salesforce admin has disallowed the use of security keys.

For security purposes, you’re prompted to log in to your account.

At the prompt:

If you are using IDmelon Pairing Tool, you will receive the notification on the smartphone which is already paired with your computer.

After successful registration, click Continue to dismiss the confirmation message.

Shopify

From your Shopify admin, click your username and account picture.

Click Manage account > Security.

In the Two-step authentication section, click Turn on two-step.

Select Security key or Biometrics, then click Next.

Enter a name for your security key.

Enter your password.

Click Add device.

Activate your security key:

If you are using IDmelon Pairing Tool, you will receive the notification on the smartphone which is already paired with your computer.

You are provided with a list of 10 recovery codes. Save your recovery codes in case you lose access to your mobile device. Make sure that you store them in a safe location offline that you can access in multiple ways, such as from your mobile device, your desktop computer, and from a printed document.

Yahoo

Sign in to the Yahoo Account security page.

Next to 2-Step Verification, click Turn on 2SV.

Select Security key.
